first time home buying

It would seem that buying a house would not be that complicated.. you pay the money and then you get the house. Back in the day you would just build your own house and the church and community would come help and it would be a big party with food and women getting the men water. These days its just a whole bunch of people making money from the transaction. Seems like people just made up jobs to do so they could profit from this transaction of home ownership.

First there is the realtor... who supposedly is on your side and just wants to help you. Sounds great and all, but really they are just wanting their 3% of the home price and want you to find a house and close as quickly as possible so as to do as little work as possible for their pay cut. Another tip off that they really don't care that much about you is that you sign a 6 month contract with them that if you buy any home you have to give them their 3%.. that includes for sale by owner homes that you find on your own! I hate that we are paying a realtor.. I did all the online searches for my home myself! I found the places to go see, and even called her when I found the place we are buying to let her know I wanted to go see it. I think she is a big wast of time and money and pretty much despise her.

Next you get to pay lots of dumb fees for everything... like a fee for an appraiser. The thing about the appraiser is that they just say the house is worth whatever you are trying to get the loan for! i mean what kind of appraisal is that? And this guy gets payed hundreds of dollars to just walk in the house, say yep its worth what you say it is! I mean come on!!

There is a fee for a home inspection.. the funny thing about Utah is that you don't have to be licenced. So Neal, Cory, Or even me could just say we were a home inspector and charge 300 to go look at a house and tell them whether its safe or not. what the heck?? I cant believe anyone can just do this. seems you would need to be qualified so you would know about things like plumbing and electricity and foundations. Otherwise how do you know if its okay?

There are a lot of other random fees and such that add up to 4,000 for closing costs. A hundred years ago was there even such a thing as closing costs? I swear the lenders just like to make up things to pad their wallets... like all the interest they make off the home loan isn't enough already!

Luckily we have a brother in law doing the actual loan so we are not paying more than we need to for interest rates. (well at least i hope so! I guess you never know)

Anyways all this has me just sleepless and ridden with anxiety! and I have not even started the whole packing/cleaning yet! Not to mention the transfer of all bills and utilities to the new home. I think I am a master procrastinator... we close on the 16th of july and I expect I will get to cleaning and packing around Saturday the 14th! I seriously am so sick of moving I am tempted to just throw all our stuff away and start over! LOL.

My new goal in life is to go a complete year with no pregnancies, moves, or job changes! I wonder if my life would be completely dull and boring if i had such security and stability?

Rub a dub dub, two boys in the tub

Theo had his first bath sitting up and loved it! He had never seen the water fill the tub before and just was fascinated by it. He just stared and stared so i moved him closer so he could touch it. Porter thought it was hilarious to put bubbles all over Theo, and Theo just looked at us like what the heck is going on??

Fathers Day

for fathers day i took these pictures of the boys spelling out Papi. I am putting them in a frame for cory to put on his desk at work. I also had porter make him a card with his hand being traced and stickers of all the things that papi does with him ( bike, baseball, soccer, etc.)

splish splash

Theodore loves to take baths. Here is a video of him taken earlier this week...he is about 5 and a half months old.

We took porter out to Thanksgiving point to see some of the animals. He loves to go on little outings with Cory and I, and so we try to go do something at least twice a month as a family. He liked to see the roosters and chickens and found it really neat that when they crowed it sounded just like cocka doodle doo. These goats were really friendly and porter liked to feed them.

Riding the horse was a treat, afterwards he told the pony thank you and patted him and said bye bye.

There were cute little baby goats, which we told porter were called Kids and he was a bit confused about all that. All the animals had their babies from the bunnies to the foals and calfs.

monkey boy

porter climbs up on top of his car and then shrieks " look at me mommy! look at meeee!"

I can tell porter is going to be a handful.... one of those kids that jumps off your roof and breaks their leg, or climbs up the tree and gets stuck at the top. Sounds like me as a kid!

my big boys

Okay mom and Mary I know I have not posted much as of late.. So I am here posting just for you! I guess I feel like not much is going on to write about, but actually a lot is going on and I guess I am just lazy!

Porter seems so old all of a sudden. He sings to himself often, he likes to make up his own songs but every now and then I can tell he is trying to sing one we have taught him. The other day in the car cory and I were talking and then both fell silent to try and hear what porter was singing in the back seat.. it was so cute that we couldnt help laughing but tried to do so quietly so he wouldnt stop singing.. he was singing " there was a farm... eieioooo.. with a mooo mooo here and a moo mooo here... and a mooo mooo here... and a mooo mooo here.... and on the farm the was a chicken... with a moo mooo here and a moo moo here...." it was a sing songy and cute and so funny becuase it didnt really make sence! He also likes to sing a spanish song that cory taught him.. I dont really know what he is singing but I know its spanish.

Porter is talking up a storm now. He is getting to smart! Two days ago we left his cars at amy's house. He informed me the following day " my cars mom!, lets go get them." I told him we didnt have a car becuase papi took it to work. " call papi on the phone, tell him to come home" "lets go get my cars". " i will put my shoes on mommy, get dressed lets go get them (refering to his cars)"

Theo is so big, he can sit up assisted. He still doesnt seem interested in rolling over yet but will play in tummy time for 30 plus minutes. He will spin in a circle trying to reach toys, or go backwards sometimes. He is a really happy baby and smiles and laughes easily. He loves to be thrown in the air, and is ticklish on his belly. He makes cute cooing sounds and has started to make ba ba ba as well.

haircut

most of Theo's orriginal baby hair fell out and blond hair has been growing in slowly. however he still had a good four inches on the crown of his head of the orriginal baby hair. I finally caved in and cut about two inches off if it. He looks so blond now that the dark hair is cut off! My baby boy is growing so fast too.. and look at his rolly polly cuteness. He is so soft and cuddly, I love it!

ZOO

Okay so my camera is on the fritz, actually i thin its my memory card so i am putting a new one in. But the pictures from the zoo are all fuzzy so sorry! A lot of them didn't turn out at all, sadly. Here are a few from the giraffes though. Porter was completely enthralled.

he came over to say hi, and was only about 6 inches from us! it was awesome.
all three giraffes in a row enjoying a sun bath. ( sorry the picture is poor quality)
Porter loves to wear his sun glasses and complains its too bright outside if he doesn't have them on, its cute but also annoying when I cant find there and need to go to the store or something!
What Theo did at the Zoo all day.. chilled in the stroller.

On Saturday we took Porter and Theo to the Zoo. A good time was had by all. Porter really liked the Giraffes, Elephants, and Snakes. He was really excited when the snake was slithering around the cage. Cory and I have no idea why this was so exciting! Porter was jumping up and down shrieking with delight over it. I don't have any pictures of this because my camera died shortly after we got to the Zoo. We will have to go again later this summer and take some more pictures. This is the last year porter is free, so I guess we will have to take advantage of that!

birthday

Today i am 27 years old. That sounds so old to me! I still feel like I am a teen, and look at me in my late twenties! I wonder if you ever really feel "grown up". I still feel like I am bumbling through life not quite sure what I am doing.

To celebrate Cory and I are going to drop the boys off at his moms and go to dinner. I love going out to dinner because I don't have to cook, clean up, or juggle the boys. It will be nice to eat in peace. Its a rare occasion!
