Happy Helper

Porter loves to help me. Sometimes he is not that helpful, and it usually takes five times as long to complete tasks when he is helping but I figure its teaching him good skills and in the long run I will be glad he can do these things. He likes to make food, pours all the things in for me and stirs. Last night he made his own scrambled eggs by himself ( I cracked them he just did all the cooking part). He likes to help do the laundry from putting it in the washer, then the dryer and even folding it. Its really cute to see him fold things, and he is such a perfectionist about it that he will refold the same towel multiple times before he deems it good enough. He wont fold shirts because he cant do it up to his self set standard and gets too frustrated and upset. So for now he sticks to towels and pants. He also likes to load and unload the dishwasher, wash the dishes by hand, and wipe the counters. He likes to vacuum and use the attached wand to get stuff. I make him get all the crumbs up from his messy eating. I am starting to think this is just making him spill more on purpose though... He also likes to sweep but I must say he mostly just spreads the dirt in the kitchen around more evenly. he will hold the dust pan for me but then I have to go back when he is not looking and finish up because we always miss most of the dirt when he is helping. His new found skill is moping. I never let him do it before because I worried he would fall down. He did fall down, but he seemed to think it was funny to "slip" and now tries to slip on purpose...

Trip down town

Both the boys had their check ups at the pediatrician. They are both in the 75% for weight! I sure do make some big boys! Theo is 22 pounds, and Porter is 34. Here is a picture of porter taping his own knee while we wait for the doctor. After the Dr we took the train down town not because we had anywhere to go, but just because porter loves to ride it so much! Here the boys are looking out the window, i love how they both have their tongues out!
I had to post this one because Cory's face is just so sweet. Look at him just loving his little boy Theo!

They both just wanted to look at everything! Porter was trying to see the Temple which was around the bend, and here is a shot of it when it was in view.

I think porter would be happy if every day involved a train ride!

Porter likes to line up the animals on the track.. not sure why but I get a kick out of it. it makes me think of Noahs ark. Porter told me they are following the leader. I have some more pictures i wanted to share but porter took the batteries out of the camera and i can only find three of them and i cant upload the pics till I find the fourth.

Its full blown fall here. The temp is falling and at night its in the 30's now. When I get up in the morning its usually 60 in the house. I am trying to hold off on turning on the furnace until November in order to save money. So we are all cold the first half of the day till it warms up to about 65. Poor Theo is still crawling so i try to keep him layered up and socks on his feet. he keeps taking the socks off even though i tell him its for his own good!
Porter is facinated about the weather this year. we have had many talks about why the leaves are changing colors and falling off the trees. He likes to point out all the different colors while we are driving. He also keeps asking for snow.. we have had one small snow fall in the valley but it melted the same day. The mountains are covered by feet of snow already and are white and beautiful in the background, looking almost like painted stage sets proped up because their perfect looking.
This is the first year porter has been into holidays. So we have a pumpkin and orange lights going up our stairs, a halloween tablecloth and halloween candle holders. ( gotta love all a dollar!) i am looking forward to christmas this year, I know he is going to love it!

Four years

Today is my four year wedding anniversary. I totally forgot and came walking dazed and sleepy into the kitchen this morning where Cory reminded me. Never thought he would remember something and I would be the one who forgot! It seems like we should have been married longer.. so much has happened in our lives together. Six moves, Three kids, he graduated from college, we bought our first house, three funerals ( his Dad Larry's, my Grandpa Everette's and our son Taylor's). Its been a good though even with all the stress and changes. I am so thankful to have my children and Cory in my life. And SO glad to not be out there dating still!

Anyways we are going to celebrate tomorrow since Cory has the day off. Yay for eating out with no kids!! i can hardly wait!

Reading Addiction

Well I have a bunch of pictures and stories to tell about them but don't feel like doing all that uploading right now..

I am really tired actually... my sister Amy brought me over a book that is nearly 600 pages long called Twilight. I started to read it Saturday night at 10 pm thinking I would read a chapter and then go to sleep.. well apparently I have not recovered from my binge reading addiction of my younger years and I couldn't stop reading that book! I tried so hard to find a stopping place, I told myself only one more chapter. I told myself that I had to stop at 250 pages, then 300, then I just gave up and read all night!!! Yes that is right.. i read it until quarter to six in the morning cause that is when I finished it! Of course then I couldn't fall asleep cause I was thinking about the story so much. Finally around 6:30 i drifted off... sadly I had to get up on by 10 because my boys needed me and Cory had to go to work. I actually had been awake earlier at 9ish because Theo woke up and was trying to nurse me.. I was half asleep and dreaming about a vampire sucking the blood from me but it was just Theo looking for some breakfast! It was a LONG day yesterday cause i was so tired! I feel a bit better today but still could use a nap. Dang porter doesn't take them anymore and he can get into way to much trouble with me gone upstairs asleep for an hour so I cant take one either.

So here I sit today.. Amy just brought over the second book in the series.. and there it sits tempting me. I dare not open it for fear I wont be able to stop! I miss the days when i could just binge read hours and hours... I could go through 3 books a day just lazily reading on the couch or in my bed. I remember in high school you could do book reports for extra credit and i would turn in five week and the teacher would not believe I read all the books. By the end of the year she learned that I just read allot.. she saw me cause that's all I did in class.

So that's my secret, I am a binge reader. I don't know how to stop. I wonder if there is therapy for such a thing? Well its bound to just get worse since I joined a book club... I cant wait till my kids are older and we can all just read our own books but together. I remember when I was junior high age that we would all lounge around the living room reading. its comforting to be together even though we were not interacting. Thora if you are reading this I miss reading with you on the couch. Do you remember those days?
