Nope, not here yet!

Here I am 40 weeks pregnant. Thats 10 months. I am ready!

Porter was telling the baby to come out!
This is my pretty side of my belly, the one that doesn't have the stretch marks.

I had an appointment today with my midwife. She is concerned and i guess they have decided they are not comfortable with me going all the way to 42 weeks. She says they will induce next Wednesday. I told her again how much i really really hated pitocin. So she stripped my membranes today, and I go in on Tuesday to have it done again and we are hoping that i will go into labor from this alone. If not then on Wednesday we will start an induction with cervadil ( something they put against your cervix to help it dilate) and hope that will get me going. I am hoping I just have him this weekend so I wont have to deal with it at all. So far i have been having contractions all day long 3-6 minutes apart since my appt. Now before you all get excited i have been having bouts of contractions for weeks. So it could just be more of that. or maybe its really early labor? I am hoping for the later. I have about zero patience for my kids right now.. as i type Theo is hanging on my leg screaming at me. he wants to sit in my lap but then he wants to push the keys and then i cant post this. Its days like this i really hate Cory's late work schedule! He wont be home till eleven tonight.

Due date

Today is my due date. I am 40 weeks pregnant, and no sign of baby! I thought for sure i would have had him by now. I guess its so nice and cozy in there he just wants to stay put! I cant really blame him, as he hears his brothers screaming all day long and also feels them when they jump on me and smash him. He probably is terrified of coming into this home! I on the other hand think he needs to, because I am done being pregnant! I even had a talk with him telling him that he better come . I have a feeling he is not going to be a model son, as he obviously ignored me! My feet are all swollen so much that the pressure from walking on them is painful sometimes. I cant sleep at night, my back is always sore, and the sensation of having a 9 pound bowling ball sitting on my bladder and pelvis has definitely gotten old!

I find that few things are enjoyable when you are this pregnant. Eating is one of the few. Also when you are this miserable in your pregnancy you find that you can justify anything if it makes you happy even for a moment. So my simple pleasures include eating nutella

from the jar, by the spoonful (Mmmmmm chocolaty hazelnut gooeyness, if you don't know what this is you need to buy a jar!)
I also have found that laffy taffy and twizzlers are quite satisfying. Yesterday I ate an entire half of a watermelon. It was so juicy and cold and Delicious i just couldn't help myself! Today i plan on going and getting a jamba juice.. sounds perfect. Oh and maybe some cheese fries, because they are so yummy and who doesn't love a plate load of carbs cooked in fat, topped in fat, and then dipped in fry sauce ( mayonnaise mixed with ketchup.. its a Utah thing) which is also fat. Mmmmmm Mmmmmmm.

Now just so you don't think i just sit around eating all day waiting for this baby to come out let me tell you i have tried everything else. I even mopped my floor last night and got down on all fours and scrubbed with a bristle brush! I have done all sorts of yoga positions and crawling on all fours to help him get in a good position to descend so his head could put some pressure on my cervix and make it dilate. I bounced on my exercise ball and did figure eights on it with my hips. I went on a walk with the boys... in the 100 degree weather.. couldn't sweat the kid out. I weeded my flower garden on all fours for a good while. All these things gave me some contractions, but not enough to put me into labor obviously! Oh and for those that are going to ask... yes we tried sex. Nothing happened! Soooooo I give up. Today I am going to go to the movies with Cory and i think i will lounge the rest of the day. Maybe I will get around to posting a big ol belly shot for you all to oogle. Oh ya.. my other sad sad moment. Here i am at the very end of my FOURTH pregnancy and NOW I got a nice patch of stretch marks??!! Just reminded me that this baby is getting huge in there. I am starting to worry he will be bigger than Theo, and let me tell you his fat head was hard enough to push out! I am a bit worried.

Now.. on to the question i know many of you have. Why in the world have i not been induced, and when am I going to be? Well I have had the option to get induced for two weeks now. I have declined because I want my body to go into labor on its own. I don't plan on being induced with artificial means ( pitocin, cervadil, etc) until i am 42 weeks. So August 11th. Just so you know.. so when i am still pregnant next week you wont wonder why. (Although i think the baby should come on Friday. because i think it would be cool to have a birthday that is 8.1.8 but if not then the following Friday so 8.8.8 not that they care if they are born on a cool day numerically!) Until then I am going to wait. I know you all think I am nuts but hear me out first, as it is my body and my baby's birth i have to go through! The first reason being that if my body and baby are ready then he will come. Obviously one or the other is not ready hence why i am still a big ol whale. Inductions before baby is ready can lead to problems, complications, longer labors ( like i need any longer ones than i have!), and increased chance of c-section which i am terrified of. The second being that I HATE pitocin. Like I really hate it. When you are induced they tether you to the pitocin and you cant go anywhere without it. It makes your contractions fast and furious from the get go, so when you are only dilated to a four you feel like you are dilated to an 8. For those that know, my labors are really long and I actually stall at an 8 for hours so spending all day long feeling like that is not fun to me. I have had three births, all three over 24 hrs. I don't labor fast, I just don't. My hips and pelvis are narrow and my baby's are big and it just takes a long time. I am okay with this, as I don't want a c-section and would rather labor long than have one because baby is taking a while to descend. The problem with me and pitocin is that I don't like epidurals either and to have a whole day with pitocin and no epidural is a nightmare. I know this because I did it with Theo!

Now i know the next thing you want to know is why i don't want an epidural. Well I just don't like feeling numb for starters! Second, epidurals cause your blood pressure to drop. I already have low blood pressure so when it drops i feel like passing out and then they make me lay down and give me oxygen and ice packs on my neck and forehead. Also I need to move around to get into positions to help my baby descend and its hard to do that when you are numb from the waist down. I want to be in a full squat to deliver this baby, as it makes your pelvis 30% bigger.

Sooo
this is long and rambly but to sum it up I am still pregnant. And don't worry i will post when i am actually in labor for real. ( which i am starting to wonder if i will even know since i have so much false labor!)

Prayers for my BIL

My brother in law had a stroke on Tuesday of this past week. Any prayers for him and my sister and their family would be greatly appreciated. If you would like to read more about the situation, or if you happen to know Todd Thelin yourself you might want to check out a blog dedicated just to his daily recovery.

updates on pregnancy, moving, life

last week i felt good.. surprisingly good actually for being 37 weeks pregnant. In fact I was thinking this baby must be coming late because you always feel like you couldn't possibly be more miserable a good week before the baby makes an entrance. Well I am now in that boat. This week has been awful. Starting wed i got some nasty virus with diarrhea and projectile vomiting. After a whole night of this I tried to drink a sip of water at 5 am that resulted in vomiting and ten minutes of violent dry heaving so much so that i broke blood vessels in my face. Now sporting some new red freckles i finally called in to my midwife and she told me to head up for some fluids and to check baby. Once there at 6 am and hooked up to the IV i was given some phenegren (sp?) for the nausea... ahhhhh sweet relief. At which point i also wondered why i didn't go up sooner! Since then I have been nauseated a bit, but mostly weak and tired. My whole body aches and I just want the baby OUT. Last night in the bed i was so uncomfortable and had to have Cory help me roll over because my hips have separated and i cant maneuver myself anymore. Its really quite pathetic. So now that I have entered the " I cant stand to be pregnant one more day" phase i hope the baby comes out in a week or so... You also know you are ready to have the baby when you think about all that labor is and how much it hurts and is awful and you STILL would rather do it then stay pregnant. With my long marathon labors that is saying alot. I have a NST on Monday to check on baby, and again on wed with a midwife apt too. Will let you know if anything happens.

Now onto the next part of my life that is giving me anxiety and stress. Cory got the letter from the FAA and the position is in Midland Texas. Where you ask?? Well its in west Texas halfway between El paso and Fort Worth.

If you ever saw the movie Friday night lights it was filmed there, as well as based on their high school football. Its a dryer climate, but still hot most of the year. I don't know much else about it really. Cory has been busy trying to get all the background paperwork done as well as the tests. He has already don't the drug test, and on Monday is his medical. Already did the fingerprint cards and other paperwork needed. Assuming he passes all these he will be getting a final offer letter with his start date at the academy in Oklahoma. We know this will last 3 months based on the facility he is going to. The kids and I would go with him to Oklahoma and then strait from there to Texas afterwards. From what i can find online it looks like he will be going in September.. but it all depends on how long they take to do his back ground. More info on this all if he gets hired. No use in boring you all with every detail i have learned from scouring the internet ( well not yet anyways!)

I am excited for the job opportunity, and even to go and live somewhere new and for the adventure that will be. I am dreading selling our house. We have only lived here one year. Housing prices have not gone up at all since we bought and the market is real slow right now. Which means we don't have any equity to pay for things like a realtor or the buyers closing costs or anything. In fact last year when we bought we payed our whole closing costs ourselves.. but based on the people that are selling now in our neighborhood, I guess buyers expect you to pay some if not all of it now. Not sure how this is going to work... but i am hoping we can sell this house without ending up it 10,000 of debt! With the expensive move to another state I just dont want to dig us into a deep hole of debt.. ugh!

Of course i keep telling myself not to panic.. as we are not positively moving yet. And I am 9 months pregnant so everything seems so overwhelming right now. I am trying to just think about the baby and nothing else till after the birth.

And more pictures...

A woman in my ward at church does photography out of a studio in her basement. I was lucky enough to win a free photo shoot in a service auction we had at church! Here is a small sampling of the pictures we got out of it.

Theo was not a big fan of this photo shoot. He was cutting molars that day and just a cranky pants to start with. Couple that with the fact that he wanted to run away, hated sitting in the chair, and we had the hardest time getting any sort of smile out of him!

Porter did really well, smiled on command and was just adorable. Its always nice when your kids are old enough to bribe! All we had to say was hold still and smile and then you can have some candy!

summer time...

Thought i better throw some pics on here for my out of state family, since i know they will want to see them! These first ones are from the Zoo. They just added this new carousel.
Nana and Theo.. He is terrified of actually riding on the animals so they just sat and rode.
This is on the train they have there.. Behind me and the boys is my cousin Heidi with her son. They were in town and visited with us for a few days.

Porter really likes the snakes.. no idea why!
The big elephant.. it sprays water out of its spout. Its right by the real elephants, but porter was much more interested in this one.

Theo checking out the giraffes while Nana puts his shoe back on.
Looking at the alligators.

Playing in the pool in the backyard. The boys love it! This day I actually put on my swim suit and was playing with them.. but spared you all from having to see two whales in the pictures! I am sure the neighbors enjoyed the show if they looked out the windows!

I was taking a belly picture on the mirror and took a quick picture of porter while in there.. he looks so grown up!

Mmmmm watermelon! Both the boys love it! We have to eat it outside though because it seems to get everywhere.... Theo's whole front is soaked in sticky pink juice by the time he is done!
