My big boy Theo

Theo is 5 months already! He is so big! He will hang out on his belly now for sometimes 30 minutes! He spins in circles... its so funny. He loves to play with porter and thinks porter is hilarious. Now if he would only sleep though the night... hmmmmm. I think he just likes to wake up to snuggle not really to eat. oh well im sure he will get over that in time. He loves to have rice cereal or little pieces of bread. He wants to eat so badly! I think I will pick up some veggies to make him some baby food with next time I am at the store. I have decided to save money and make my own food this time. Its not that hard, and its way cheaper too

Taylor

So yesterday I was so depressed all day and missing my baby Taylor because he would have been 18 months and running all over the place by now! I was so surprised when the door bell rang and it was flowers and balloons from my mom! I thought I was the only one that even thought about Taylor anymore. It made my whole day. Here is a picture of the flowers. I am taking them over to his grave today. Thank you mommy! he will get an early memorial day decoration. :)

Mmmmmm

This was taken Yesteday.. Theo is having some rice cereal. He was 5 months exactly. He is not quite sure what to do with it and spits alot of it out still. But he makes the cutest Mmmm sound while tasting it... So sweet. I am by no means ready to do a full time three meal a day solid food schedule with him yet.. its so much work for the mommy!! LOL. However a little bit of rice cereal now and then should be fine for now.

Sorry to neglect my site... Cory has been home for the past week and on the computer a lot so I have not been uploading pics or keeping up with my online world. He is now working a temp job for the next few weeks and then he has a job with Verizon Wireless set up to start the second week in June. he will be taken inbound calls from Spanish costumers. Not really glamorous or high paying, but it will take care of the bills.

For those that don't know, Cory, is in the middle of the very LONG and arduous process of applying to the Air Force for an officer position. Although this has been almost a year so far looking into this we haven't told many people because of a few reasons. First because I hate hearing other people opinions and if we should go military... its our life and I dont see why everyone else seems to take this so personally. ( Cory's mom keeps talking him out of it and then I have to talk him back into it and frankly all that passive aggressive convincing is exhausting!) And second because I hate to get my hopes up about things and then be disappointed and for some silly reason by not telling people I thought I could not think about it as much and not be sad if it doesn't work out. I now realize i am already invested in this option and will be fully disappointed already so why bother keeping it hush hush anymore.

He finally got all the paperwork, tests, physicals, and essays done. The deadline is June 6th to get everything in and all he has to turn in now is his letters of recommendation. I really am sad my grandpa is not here anymore since not only would he be completely supportive and excited for us, but he would have written us a great LOR and as a COL. that would have held some weight. The selection board meets in July and then we find out the results in August. The military is very much a hurry up and wait kind of operation. So for now we wait... if we do get in then we hurry and get a flight physical and then wait some more to get his officer training school class date ( boot camp for officers). Anyways I will not go into any more detail since I don't know if we we get in... although I really really want to and pray it works out. The pay and benefits would be great for my family and I would LOVE to get of Utah already. I am not a big fan of living here. (I can say this on here because Cory never reads my blog... he wants to be stationed in Utah at HILL... we will see I guess)

Oh and for anyone that is curious he is applying for a navigator position... which is great because then we get the flight pay bonus. For anyone who doesn't know what that is, if you have seen the movie top gun with Tom Cruise... you know how he is maverick and then his buddy is goose? well Cory would be like goose.. the other guy.

This picture was taken downtown salt lake. We are outside the church museum. They have a kid section on the top floor and Porter had a great time exploring it. We rode the train in for a fun adventure for Porter. He loves it! Cory and I try to find excuses to ride it just for Porters sake. With Gas prices soaring ( yesterday it was 3.18 a gallon) I am sure we will be utilizing public transportation much more! Theo likes the train too... he gets to be held and nursed while in transit instead of wailing at me from the backseat of the car!

Crazy times of being a mother

I will get some more pictures on here soon.. Its been a crazy time for us. Basic Mother things... sick kids. Earlier this week ( cant even remember what day its all a blur) Theo woke up at 4 am screaming at the top of his lungs. He had a fever of 106.1 so spent the day at the ER getting blood work, a catheter , X-rays, and an IV. He wouldn't eat at all so I pumped and he just had IV fluids. Its times like that you are glad that your kid is so fat, so we didn't worry if he didn't get calories for the day. He ended up having an ear infection and I think he is teething on top of that. Poor baby has such a sore bum now from the antibiotics. He seems to be doing alot better though, and his appetite is almost back to normal now. His temperament is still cranky but I am attributing that him teething.. I think.. He has his pointer and middle finger in his mouth most of the time and chompin away at them while drool runs down his chin and soaks his shirt. He is only 4 1/2 months but porter got his first tooth at 5 so i wouldn't be surprised.

So the day Theo got sick, Porter was throwing up all night. That was only for one day so we think he might have just not washed his hands well enough. But the next morning he woke up and his eyes were leaking goop all day and swollen and red. So he ended up getting some antibiotic eye drops. Now for anyone that has not had to do eye drops on a two year old its not the easiest feet to accomplish. It goes something like this:

"porter we need to put the medicine in your eyes now"
"no mommy! I don't like it!"
Porter starts to cry holding his eye and telling me no no no no

I lay him on the floor and straddle porter pinning his arms to his side with my knees. Porter is wildly shaking his head with his eyes closed as tight as he can get them. He is also screaming at the top of his lungs. I worry for a moment the neighbors are going to call CPS on me... He really sounds like he is being tortured! I briefly think of how it would be to explain to the cops that all that screaming came from one eye drop session...

Cory pries open porters eye while I try and get two drops in. The first drop lands on his cheek from him moving, the other hits the eye lid because Porter closes his eye before it gets in. The second two drops get in... we think anyways. Maybe just one did? I move on to the other eye. After a few failed attempts Cory and i agree that two drops must have made it in. Its hard to tell with all the tears streaming down his face.

I let porter up where in he immediately rubs his eyes making me wonder if the drops are doing any good or if all his tears and rubbing made it come all back out. I worry but not enough to repeat the torture ( for both of us).

This lovely eye drop fun gets to be repeated three times a day for 10 days. I expect with that much screaming my neighbors are sure to think I am beating the kid on a regular basis... morning noon and night.

so the day after the boys got sick i started to have a sore throat. It progressed and now here on mothers day I have lost my voice, my whole body aches, and I have an awful cold. I skipped church, slept in, and haven't eaten anything cause i feel so yucky. On a positive note, Cory was very thoughtful and got me mothers day cards from the boys, and even one from Taylor specifically. I thought that was sweet. He also got me a necklace that has the three boys birthstones in it. Its cool how it worked out because porters is a Sapphire, Taylor's is that orange one, and Theo's is December so its also blue. So My little angel Taylor is the bright one nestled between his brothers blue stones.

Okay this is long and rambly but this is whats going on. Pictures will be coming later this week! For now I am back to bed...

Organizing

Over the past year Porter has become more and more obsessed with lining up his cars and trains.. He spends hours arranging them every day and freaks out with a full blown fit if you even bump one slightly out of place. This can be quite a pain when he has them arranged just so in the kitchen and I need to make dinner! I wonder why he feels the need to organize them all day, and we often laugh at his obsession. The other night we came home from a family gathering at 11 pm and Porter wouldn't go to sleep until he made sure his cars were lined up properly. He even lines them up on the toy shelf when he puts them away. I need to get a picture of that one. I wonder what kind of adult he will be and what type of occupation he will seek with his obsession with order. As i write this he has half of the cars arranged in a line on the couch, the other half in an arch on the floor, and is setting up his trains on the track in a nice S pattern.

These first few pictures are at our old apartment. The first one is from the first time he did this in sept 2006. I thought it was so interesting i took pictures. At the time i didn't realize this would become a daily ritual. The rest of the pictures span from then till now (may 2007) Just took the last one yesterday.
