party!

So per Porters request we had a Cars party ( from the Disney movie Cars) We decided to not go too big since he tends to get overwhelmed and long parties are never fun for little kids. So we had a pinata and then cake and ice cream and that's it. Good times had by all, and Porter enjoyed getting lots of cars for presents as well as a mat that has the roads to drive them on.

with his birthday balloons

porter hitting the pinata, he thought this was good fun! we need to get this kid into t-ball! Inside the pinata was smarties, dum dums, cars fruit snacks, hot wheels, and bouncy balls.
our little family before we sang happy birthday.
This was the cake. Cars theme of course. I had a lot of fun making it. Instead of using black frosting for the road I wanted to use something that was tastier so I decided on chocolate.. :) To make the road i melted down chocolate chips and spread them on the back of a cookie sheet. When they hardened i took it off and gently formed it to the cake. I bought the cars at walmart, and porter was really excited he got to keep them! The stop sign i stole from his train set.. and washed it well first!

What a cute cake! I can't believe Porter is 3. Where has the time gone? He sure is a handsome little man.

It looks like he had a wonderful day.

Porter looks so big in that first photo. I'm glad his birthday was such a hit. Great job on the cake!

You're so crafty, Camilla, and in such a nice, useful way, too. Because then you can eat the cake, too! Sounds like it was a nice birthday for Porter. I finally watched the cars movie recently, and I really liked it, although it made me feel guilty for always driving on Interstates, if I have the opportunity.
