Porter has a new fascination with the body which has led to him saying some funny things and us having interesting conversations. He always wants to know what his body is going to benefit from the food he is eating. So for example i tell him the carrots are going to help his eyes see better and milk will help his bones be strong. He asked me what some junk food does and i told him it did nothing but make people fat. So now i have a three year old that tells you that McDonald's makes you fat. Also if i tell him that he can only have one cookie he will respond by saying " so i don't get fat mommy?" I really did not want to make my three year old boy anorexic of obsessed with what he eats but what are you to say when they want to know how french fries or ice cream help their body? So we have talked about how some food is called junk food and it tastes yummy and we can eat it some of the time but not all of the time.
He is also really interested with the exteriors of our bodies. He has asked me things like how the Dr fixed my tummy after getting the baby out. This was one time it would have been easier if had gotten a c-section since then the baby did come out of the tummy and you have a scare to prove it! I told him the baby didn't come out that way, they came out of my vagina. He said "oh" and that was that. I was glad he didn't ask for any more details on that!
Since we have all boys in the family, besides me, he also asked me one day how i go Pee since i don't have a Penis ( he had been asking how boys and girls were different). Apparently he correlates the two words.. you know so Pee-nis because you use it to Pee. He seemed really concerned i don't have one.
Breastfeeding has started a whole new discussion about woman and men and the difference. He asked me if his Nana could feed Preston since she was a "lady" ( no idea why he used that word) and therefor had breasts. Try explaining menopause to a three year old. Twas interesting. He also asked why his dad couldn't breastfeed the baby, to which i replied he had no breasts. Porter lifted up his shirt and showed me his nipples and said that boys did have breasts. I explained they just had the nipple part but not the breast part that makes the milk. This whole conversation took place about a week ago. So this morning I hear porter in the other room explaining to Theo that he couldn't feed babies because he only had "nickles". It would be hard to feed a baby with a nickle don't you think??
Porter: mommy how tall am i?
Me: you are three feet three inches
Porter: No, I don't have three feet i only have two. Don't you know that i only have two feet mommy?

Camilla!
What a funny post! I was laughing so hard. Wow what would you say to all of those questions. I seem to remember asking mom some of the same questions, but I was like 5.
I really like the one that about him having three feet. What a cutie!
I can't wait to see you. It seems like the next two days will take forever!
I love you
Mary
I think it's great you give him real answers, instead of just saying, "just because" or something.
Cardon too is a child of 1000 questions, Im glad to see someone else besides me gives real answers
I have to admit; I read this post often when I need a good laugh. Way to be so honest; it is nice to know there is another one of us out there!
I love funny quote at the end. You should submit it to Reader's Digest I am sure they would put it in the magazine! Classic :)
