Four years

Today is my four year wedding anniversary. I totally forgot and came walking dazed and sleepy into the kitchen this morning where Cory reminded me. Never thought he would remember something and I would be the one who forgot! It seems like we should have been married longer.. so much has happened in our lives together. Six moves, Three kids, he graduated from college, we bought our first house, three funerals ( his Dad Larry's, my Grandpa Everette's and our son Taylor's). Its been a good though even with all the stress and changes. I am so thankful to have my children and Cory in my life. And SO glad to not be out there dating still!

Anyways we are going to celebrate tomorrow since Cory has the day off. Yay for eating out with no kids!! i can hardly wait!

Reading Addiction

Well I have a bunch of pictures and stories to tell about them but don't feel like doing all that uploading right now..

I am really tired actually... my sister Amy brought me over a book that is nearly 600 pages long called Twilight. I started to read it Saturday night at 10 pm thinking I would read a chapter and then go to sleep.. well apparently I have not recovered from my binge reading addiction of my younger years and I couldn't stop reading that book! I tried so hard to find a stopping place, I told myself only one more chapter. I told myself that I had to stop at 250 pages, then 300, then I just gave up and read all night!!! Yes that is right.. i read it until quarter to six in the morning cause that is when I finished it! Of course then I couldn't fall asleep cause I was thinking about the story so much. Finally around 6:30 i drifted off... sadly I had to get up on by 10 because my boys needed me and Cory had to go to work. I actually had been awake earlier at 9ish because Theo woke up and was trying to nurse me.. I was half asleep and dreaming about a vampire sucking the blood from me but it was just Theo looking for some breakfast! It was a LONG day yesterday cause i was so tired! I feel a bit better today but still could use a nap. Dang porter doesn't take them anymore and he can get into way to much trouble with me gone upstairs asleep for an hour so I cant take one either.

So here I sit today.. Amy just brought over the second book in the series.. and there it sits tempting me. I dare not open it for fear I wont be able to stop! I miss the days when i could just binge read hours and hours... I could go through 3 books a day just lazily reading on the couch or in my bed. I remember in high school you could do book reports for extra credit and i would turn in five week and the teacher would not believe I read all the books. By the end of the year she learned that I just read allot.. she saw me cause that's all I did in class.

So that's my secret, I am a binge reader. I don't know how to stop. I wonder if there is therapy for such a thing? Well its bound to just get worse since I joined a book club... I cant wait till my kids are older and we can all just read our own books but together. I remember when I was junior high age that we would all lounge around the living room reading. its comforting to be together even though we were not interacting. Thora if you are reading this I miss reading with you on the couch. Do you remember those days?

party!

So per Porters request we had a Cars party ( from the Disney movie Cars) We decided to not go too big since he tends to get overwhelmed and long parties are never fun for little kids. So we had a pinata and then cake and ice cream and that's it. Good times had by all, and Porter enjoyed getting lots of cars for presents as well as a mat that has the roads to drive them on.

with his birthday balloons

porter hitting the pinata, he thought this was good fun! we need to get this kid into t-ball! Inside the pinata was smarties, dum dums, cars fruit snacks, hot wheels, and bouncy balls.
our little family before we sang happy birthday.
This was the cake. Cars theme of course. I had a lot of fun making it. Instead of using black frosting for the road I wanted to use something that was tastier so I decided on chocolate.. :) To make the road i melted down chocolate chips and spread them on the back of a cookie sheet. When they hardened i took it off and gently formed it to the cake. I bought the cars at walmart, and porter was really excited he got to keep them! The stop sign i stole from his train set.. and washed it well first!

Three years have flown by!

I can not believe its been Three years since I had Porter. He is so big now, talking in complete sentences and asking lots of questions. Yesterday while I was on the computer he came up to me and in the sweetest little voice said " mommy, can you please tickle my belly?" How can you say no to that? He is such a joy to our family, and his good times make up for his less behaved moments. At bedtime he sings all the words to "I am a child of God" its adorable. We have been talking about his birthday for a while.. he knows he is three now and will show you with his fingers. ( funny side note, if you ask him how old I am he says nine.. that is his "big number")

So since this is my blog and i can post all the boring nostalgic things I want to.. I thought I would post some pictures of porter that span his life. When I uploaded them I did the youngest ones first so if you want an ascending order than scroll down and go back up. His birthday party is tomorrow (Thursday) since that is Cory's day off work. I will post pictures from that later on.

Crisp Air

And just like that, its fall! We went from hot sunny weather to a crisp 72 degrees and perfect overnight! It just smells like fall outside... cool and fresh and like leaves that are turning. I love it! Its the best for long walks with the kids, driving with the windows down, and long lazy days at the park when we can actually enjoy it!

When I was a kid this was the time of year I loved to just lay in the backyard and read books while eating apples of course...

Porter's bedtime antics

well to give equal attention to both my boys here are some pics taken of porter this month too. When i told him to smile this is what he did. I guess he wants to show off his neck... like how the football players do so it looks thick. Porter pretending to sleep but smiling...
This was all taken one night after a bath while we were waiting for Cory to come home from work. He doesn't get in till about 9:15 so Porter is all ready and waiting for his goodnight stories and hugs from his Papi. Porter was being really silly this night, just laughing at everything.
Porters second attempt of pretending to sleep... he is pretty good eh? This is what he does when I tell him we need to go brush his teeth. he jumps in the bed and pretends he is sleeping and if you try to lift him he even does the whole floppy body. He is quite the little actor!
This is about 3 seconds later laughing at me when I made comments at how porter was sound asleep and how fast he did it!

My little monkey jumping on the bed!

look at me mommy! i jumping!

I told him he couldn't jump anymore cause it was time to settle down. Of course like all over dramatic two year olds he burst into the saddest cry.... I am so glad i caught this on camera because its such a priceless shot! He is so dramatic I wonder what he will be like as a teenager! I'm gonna have a drama queen and I don't even have any daughters!
