Themed Parties

Since I am back in the blogging world i thought i better back track to some of the fun we had this summer when i was MIA!

We were invited to a couple themed parties this summer, so much fun! The first pictures are from a 50's Party. I decided to go with the housewife look as apposed to the poodle skirt, mainly cause that's what i had on hand! I totally can rock the red lipstick! I think i need to bring it back in fashion, what do you think?

I helped my friend plan an 80's party for her husbands birthday, it was like totally awesome!

Hot pink lipstick and big hair ( I don't have much hair this was as big as i could get it!!)

Pop rocks, its a party in your mouth!! I ate way too many and was really hyper. I love 80's candy!

yea baby.... I have half a can of aqua net in my hair. It looked exactly like this still when i woke up! Im not sure how people kept their hair from falling out back then!

Weekends.. oh how i dread them.

Cory's job here has been a wonderful opportunity for our family. It does have some downsides though, one of them being he has to work Saturday and Sunday from 1-9pm. It makes the weekend drag on and those days seem hours longer than others! I always do a thorough scrubbing of the boys Saturday night so they are clean for Sunday. Which is so much fun now that Porter has decided he only takes showers! This is fine the other nights because he does it alone. But the little ones have to do whatever he does and no one else is here to distract them... so its all three boys in the tub and the floor is pretty flooded!
Porter and Theo watching themselves in the mirror opposite the tub... they posed and laughed at themselves for 20 minutes. Arthur is not tall enough to see his refection so he seemed confused what all the fun was about. Having three boys there is lots of wrestling, yes even on Sunday morning in your Sunday clothes while your parents are frantically trying to get everyones shoes on.

Theo's butterfly band aid is from a gash that Arthur gave him by pitching the car at his face as hard as he could. Ahhh brotherly love!

Oh look they are all kind of being still!! This is a rare moment.

So after this we piled them all in the car. I asked Cory if he had my van key, he said nope and got in his car to start for church. ( we drive separate because he leaves halfway through sacrament so he can get to work on time) I ran back in the house to find the key. I looked and looked and looked... ten minutes later i call Cory who is at the church by now and ask him to please check his pockets. Ooops he says. By the time he drove home and we both drove back we had missed the sacrament. We settled down in the foyer to try and listen to the speaker over the intercom. This mainly consists of me listening and Cory chasing a child down the hall every other minute.

Cory leaves about 15 minutes before the meeting gets out. Porter runs away after a friend in the hall, Theo is crawling all over the chair trying to reach the fire alarm, Arthur is running in circles while fruit snacks fall on the floor behind him. I am wondering why i come to church?? ( keep in mind I just had that surgery so I cant physically restrain any of them in my lap or pick them up) Five seconds later Theo takes the entire baggie of cereal and goldfish and dumps it out on the floor making sure to crunch it in. I start frantically picking it up with the help of a couple other moms.. Theo starts picking up too and shoving it in his mouth. Someone even got a vacuum out because it was THAT bad. This is about the time i wonder what Arthur is doing since i cant see him. He is behind the chair shoving all the crayons in the vent! My lovely boys.


But wait.. there was more! After Church I arrive home with three hungry, thirsty, cranky boys. Its a nice hot day and we live by the pool so of course every single parking spot in front of my apartment is taken. I find a spot across the way that i squeeze my van into between a Truck and a Hummer ( really who drives those and why??) I cant carry the boys still so i shepperd them across the street, get to the house and realize i don't have the house key. I give them all instructions to stay right there while i go back and look everywhere in the car for them. I am so close to the Hummer i set off the alarm... i ignore that and keep looking.... then i hear honking from behind me because Theo is in the road, naked from the waist down! He tells me he had to go pee and went in his pants so he took them off. I then see a nice old lady with Arthur so i run over there to tell her I am here and please don't call anyone i really am not ignoring my children. This is about the time I call Cory to ask him what to do... Oooops he says he took my house key with him to work!! I seriously laughed. You would think after this morning he would remember not to put my keys in his pocker! Its 3:30 by now, my kids are hot and starving and one is half naked. It was laugh or cry!

Right as I was loading up the kids in the van for the 40 minute round trip drive to Cory's work i saw a maintenance guy walk by (that was there to fix something else i assume). I flagged him down and he was kind enough to go get the master key and let us in to our home sweet home, Thank goodness!


I was done .



We had pb&j for dinner, watched Carebears the movie, and they went to bed early!

It was one of those days.

Reason 25 why i love porters teacher

Today she sent out this email to the parents of her students:

Hi, Parents! Just praying that each of you and your sweet families have a blessed Sunday. I know Sundays are our day of rest, and sometimes they can be hectic when getting little ones ready for church. :) How well I remember! Take time to breathe and know that God goes both before and behind you. He has ordered your day. Wow! Order....how nice! :) Have a blessed, restful day, and I look forward to receiving your precious children tomorrow. Hugs to all!

We found out that Theo is a dog person.. He loved on Kody and Aida the whole time we stayed at Aunt Amy's!

The boys love this marble toy. I do too when they aren't fighting over specific marble colors! Theo needs all the red ones and blue ones for his ice power and fire power. okay okay my kids play alot of super mario brothers on the wii... you should play it its really fun! You would be amazed how good a 3 and 5 year old can be! ( they can both beat levels that i tend to die on)

How many kids can you fin in the grocery cart? its like a clown car! The best part they all stayed there this whole trip and no crying!

Arthur was real sick having seizures in April. This was at Primary childrens hospital (utah) while he got a sleep study done on his brain. He was really mad about all the wires stuck to his head. I'm so mean to even take the picture but i wanted Cory to see what was going on ( he was back in Texas)

Finally perking up after 5 days of lethargy! We were so glad to see him sitting up again! ( he lost some weight was down to 19lbs at 20 months! skinny minny!)

Kindergarten

( okay so its been a long time!! I took a trip to Utah for a month, then summer hit and i got really sick for a few months eventually leading to surgery end of July and now after a month recovering I'm finally feeling like myself again! due to demand mostly from my mother i am resurrecting this blog and hoping to keep up with it again.)



Hardly seems possible my baby is officially in school! I must be getting old i suppose. He is attending a private school which we decided on after much thought, discussion, and prayer. Basically when i toured the school i felt so calm and happy that i wanted to attend it myself! I took Cory and Porter back with me for a second tour and we all were more than ready to sign up! He attends Midland Classical Academy . Its a christian school so they incorporate God and the Bible into science and have a scripture each day. The reasons we fell in love with the school are:

1. There are only 9 kids in his class! Porter has a hard time with too many people so this is an optimal learning environment for him. Also because of the small class size the children get much more one on one time with the teacher.

2. Its a private school so there are no wasted hours doing endless testing on the little ones. They also use the Saxon method for math and reading which is excellent. Also they have great vacations... two weeks for thanksgiving, a month for Christmas, and school lets out may 5th! Its amazing how much faster kids can learn the material when the class size is small and the teachers can actually teach instead of follow all the regulations from the government!

3. Its half home school! In Texas kindergarten is 5 full days (8-3:30). That's a lot of school for a 5 year old. At Porters school he goes from 8:30-3:30 Monday and Wednesday and a half day on Friday where they get to pick enrichment classes ( Spanish, art, music, ballet, and even violin lessons as they get older) Porter is going to take music and art... we let him pick so he would be excited about it. On Tuesday and Thursday he is home schooled. The teachers give the outline for the work and we just have to oversee it and do embellishments where we would like. Its really the best of both worlds! We had wanted to home school but felt like he would benefit from the social interaction from school.

We are super excited for the year to play out, and hope that porter flourishes in the environment. His teacher, Mrs. Hall, is darling and so devoted to the students. She told us she prays for them every day, how sweet is that?

Whats new and funny with my kids.

Porter:
He got a haircut and he went and looked in the mirror " hey mom now my hair and my lips look just like Eric ( a friend from church)" I thought i was funny he thought the haircut made their lips look the same.

"i am invisible" ( meaning invincible.. we laugh every time!)

" if you were in space i think all of your dreams would come true because you would see a lot of wishing stars"

" I am eating all of my vegetables so I wont grow old" we asked why that would prevent growing old and he said " because i wont get cancer and that makes people old"

Porter asked me if everyone had to die, i told him that every one did. He got really upset and told me he never wanted to die. I told him it was okay because we would all see each other again and be resurrected. He was really distraught about all this. Finally he exclaimed to me " but mommy i dont want to be crucified!" poor kid thought that was how we were all going to die!

We just completed his kindergarten work books and started the first grade ones. He is so smart and picks up new concepts quickly! Mainly we are working on his handwriting now. He is such a perfectionist though and much too hard on himself! We go through a lot of erasers so he can get it just right!

Theo:
"I not three i Teo." "I NOT cute, i Teo." "I not tired i Teo!" Well at least he knows his name, right? He also knows the color purple which he says "orple" and i think its the cutest thing! He is getting speech at the local elementary school now so hopefully he starts talking, and understanding, more so there will be less melt downs.

any quantity more that one is three. If he has two cookies, or five he will say he has three. If he counts his toys he says "one.. three..one.. three.. one ..three" Its hard to not laugh.. and you must never laugh because then he will say " no laugh a me!!"

we told Theo if he went in the potty he could have a fruit snack. he never wants to go, but we keep trying. Lately if i ask him if he wants to go he simply replies " i no fruit snack, no potty!" I know he is ready though. He will hand me a diaper and say "change me". I have tried about 3 times as hard as i did with porter and no luck so far. I give up.. i think i will wait a few months and train him and Arthur the same time this summer! Maybe a little brotherly peer pressure will help!

His favorite things to do are watch scooby doo, and play with the wooden trains we have. Its fun to watch him play with them because Porter only lined them up and never did the whole talking to himself pretend play like Theo does.

Arthur:
all day long he brings me shoes, saying " i shoe..i shoe" if i put them on then he wants to go outside and runs to the neighbors house and knocks on the door. If they are home he will say " i play!" and wants to go inside. its like that book if you give a mouse a cookie... so i just try to not put his shoes on, ever. Its a slippery slope those shoes!

18 months tomorrow. He is barely 20 lbs, bald, and still nursing. So he seems younger to me. At least i dont feel baby hungry, he still is one to me!

He is such a little talker! Theo has been so delayed its weird having this little baby walking around with all these words. Some of his most used ones are shoe, play, fish, ball, football, milk, boobie ( yes i KNOW this is so bad!!) belly, eye, nose, cheese, papi, mama, more, cookie, yesh( for yes) no, bye, hi, drink, up, teeth, mess, mine and various animals and their sounds.

He also says " i show" which he picked up from Theo who says most of the day " i watch show mommy?" I am not sure if Arthur actually wants to watch a show though, or if he just says it because Theo does.
